Wikidata Clinic
Join Wikipedia experts Andrew Lih and Rosie Stephenson-Goodknight for a clinic on how to work with Wikidata, the structured data project that is an adjunct to Wikipedia. Attendees from the LAM sector (libraries, archives and museums) are encouraged to bring their own interesting problems and data sets from their organizations or domains of interest for expert advice on how to:
When
Where
RSVP
The session will start with a brief overview of how Wikidata ontologies are being used, and how to inspect them with tools such as Wikidata Graph Builder, Wikidata Generic Tree, Wikidata Query (SPARQL), Vizquery (simple visual query) and SQID.
The majority of time is dedicated to hearing from attendees with their specific questions or lines of inquiry for their domains of knowledge.
Wikimedia DC has already held two well-received sessions of Wikidata training with staff from the Smithsonian Institution.
This third session, open to all cultural institutions interested in Wikidata, is meant to be a hands-on clinic to show existing projects (such as Women in Red or Sum of All Paintings) utilize Wikidata to improve content. This will be anchored by Wikipedia veterans Andrew Lih and Rosie Stephenson-Goodknight.
TBD
