Religiously, Fritz, his wife Amanda, and all four of his children are strong believers in Jesus Christ and are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Born in Riggins, Idaho, Fritz's father was an elementary school teacher. His father and mother instilled a great sense of faith in Fritz, which has remained to this day. Throughout much of his childhood, his mother encouraged her son to be creative. She helped him learn how to play piano, sing, and also first gave him an interest in theater. In High School, Fritz played Football and Baseball, spending the winters preforming plays and skits as part of his High School drama club, which he was elected as Treasurer from sophomore year on. In his senior year, he took his would-be wife to the prom.
A graduate of Brigham Young University in 1978, Fritz went on to seek a law degree at the University of Oregon. Since passing the bar in 1983 Fritz has been practicing copyright law.
