The PianoArts North American Piano Competition and Music Festival is a biennial piano event based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The competition is open to pianists, ages 16-20, who live or study in North America. Twelve semifinalists are chosen by a preliminary jury to travel to Milwaukee in early June for a week of coachings, master classes, rehearsals and performances. Semifinalists compete for prize money, scholarships, performance opportunities and fellowships to return to Wisconsin to present music education programs and concerts. Contestants perform duos with musicians from the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the finalists perform complete concertos with the orchestra. The semifinal competition and festival recitals are held at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. In 2014, the Finals and Awards Concert will be held June 11 at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. [1]
