Jason Shay (born February 14, 1996), is a Canadian rapper, singer, and record producer. A native of Montreal, Quebec.

Jason Shay released his debut EP, Rude Awakening, in March 2016, the lead single "For You" went on to have much success and brought him recognition. In 2017 and 2018 he released a handful of singles, including "Wild", "Break Out", "Purple Sky" and many more. He is currently preparing to release his second EP in the first quarter of 2023.

Early life

Jason Shay was born on February 14, 1996, and was the first of his immediate Caribbean family to be born in Canada. His family originates from the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. He was born in Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, an inner city borough in Montreal. Having grown up in an artistically inclined family heavily influenced by Soul music, Reggae, and R&B, he was drawn to music at an early age. Jason started writing poetry at 11 years of age but would eventually transition towards music around 9th grade, with a focus on rapping. In his last 2 years of high school, he would often perform at talent shows to develop his skill and would also begin composing his own beats on FL Studio.

Jason Shay has stated that he was influenced by Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, DJ Quik, Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Raphael Saadiq and Teddy Riley.
