The Carmilla Movie is a 2017 Canadian horror-fantasy comedy film directed by Spencer Maybee, and written by Alejandro Alcoba and Jordan Hall. It is a continuing film adaptation based on the web series Carmilla, which itself is loosely based on the novella of the same name by Sheridan Le Fanu. It stars Elise Bauman and Natasha Negovanlis reprising their roles as Laura Hollis and Carmilla Karnstein, respectively.
It has been five years since Laura and Carmilla vanquished the apocalypse and Carmilla became a bonafide mortal human. They have settled in to a cozy apartment in downtown Toronto; Laura continues to hone her journalism skills while Carmilla adjusts to a non-vampire lifestyle. Their domestic bliss is suddenly ruptured when Carmilla begins to show signs of “re-vamping” – from a fondness for bloody treats to accidental biting – while Laura has started having bizarre, ghostly dreams. Enlisting their old friends from Silas University, the couple must now uncover the unknown supernatural threat that’s tied to Carmilla’s past. [1]
The film was shot in Toronto, Ontario, over 11 days. [2] [3]
The Carmilla Movie was released digitally on VHX on October 25, 2017, with three different bundles offered. The "Freshmen Viewing Party" bundle contained the film as well as a digital signed script and making of featurette, with the "Journalist Package" containing additional behind the scenes content and the "Original Creampuff" containing a bundle of the third season. The film was later made available on Fullscreen on October 27, 2017.
The film received a limited release through Cineplex from October 26–28, 2017.
These are just for fun.
