Studies have been done that show have changed the way scientists think about evolution, especially in regards to frogs. There is a red eye tree frog that hatch due to plasticity. Meaning that they have a specific hatch time but they will hatch early if necessary due to threats.

The panama tree frog is another frog who’s evolution is being altered due to climate changes. When the panama tree frog lays its eggs they are extremely susceptible to the weather, if there is not rain for a day then the eggs will dry out and die. A study was done that showed that the rainfall over the past four decades has become more sporadic. These changes in the weather have caused the frog to be flexible in whether or not it lays its eggs in the water or on a leaf, it has learned these weather patterns and evolved to figure out when is the best time to lay the eggs in order for them to survive.

Another tree frog in Australia has led to an evolutionary change is species. A new species has been created due to picky female frogs, what is unique about this evolution is it has occurred in less than 8,000 years, which is slightly unheard of. The females realized that the frogs they were mating with were leading to unhealthy offspring so they began mating with only frogs from their own line. With this specific mating a new species was created and now the new species can only mate with each other and are unable to mate with the original tree frog species. The tree frog appears to be a very selectively smart group when it comes to mating and their evolution.
