A farewell speech/message/letter/note

Dear Wikifriends and Wikicolleagues.

Today, which is the 18th October 2009, 2 years and 3 days after I originally joined, is a very sad day for me. I have been a proud Wikipedian for two years and I will sort of keep up that status. Sadly, all good things must come to an end and sadly, this is one of those times. When I first joined this brilliant, useful and intellectual repository of information we call Wikipedia, I was determined to do my best. I have done my part on this site, and it is now time for me to leave, occasionally popping back in for a bit of REFDESK or some genuine article editing. When I first joined I edited the Drake and Josh article, changing the area about Walter Nichols. This has since been removed, and I wish to mention this here, my true feelings. You see, Wikipedia is a nice place, but too many editors, I have found in my time here, are control freaks, for want of a better phrase. For instance, I edited Ed, Edd, n Eddy and recieved an unjustified Level 3 warning for it. My good friend Sticky in effect told him to cool it off and he did. But I find Wikipedia is just too monotone and bureaucratic, sometimes just plain callous. This site is a site where hours of writing and studying can be bipped away <clicks fingers> just like that, because it's 'not notable'. And I find it too pressurised for me. This site is frightened of allowing itself to become friendly otherwise it'll just be another Facebook. It's always having stuff yelled in your face like, 'INCLUDE REFERENCES!' 'THAT'S NOT NOTABLE!' I feel incredibly saddened to leave you today, but I would like to commend all the people who made the experience fun, who are as follows:

Darkside2000

Swirlex

Dfrg.msc

Sticky Parkin

Mushroom

La Pianista

Thanks, you guys. I really enjoyed the time when I was fully active and now, as They Might Be Giants would say, 'Time is marching on, and still, it's marching on.' I welcome any goodbye messages you may have for me on my talkpage.

Thanks for the memories,

PS

Here's a short montage of all the big events in my 'Wikilifetime'.

15th October 2007-I join Wikipedia with a bizarre obsession with McDonald's...

A little while after that-Become friends with Sticky and embarassingly call her a 'he'...

2008-Already it's getting a little rocky, as I become enticed into Wikipedia:Wikistory(now deleted by humourless morons) and Wikipedia:Department of Fun.

Summer 2008-An admin called Daniel deletes a prank off my userpage. I argue with him and some guy called Metros butts in where he shouldn't, it gets out of hand, I get called immature. I have a holiday in Bulgaria and when I get back, Daniel, ironically, decides not to reply to my apology.

2009-My activity gets less and less.

18 October 2009-I decide to semi-retire.

PPS

Darkside, sorry, but I have decided to abdicate my throne. You are now the king. Congratulations!
