Izumi Kato (born c. 1969) is a Japanese artist who creates surreal wooden sculptures and paintings. [1]
He graduated from the Musashino Art University in 1992. [2]
Untitled 2004 is a wood and acrylic sculpture. [3] It is a vaguely infant like figure with a bulbous head turned to the side and outstretched arms placed on an adjacent wall. [4]
It is notable for the usage of a photograph of the sculpture to represent the entity "SCP-173" in the SCP Foundation universe. Kato gave permission to the SCP wiki to continue using the image for SCP-173 as long as it wasn’t used for any commercial purpose. [5]
It has been exhibited at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art [6] and Art Tower Mito.
I will reluctantly permit this secondary use of the image of " Untitled 2004" as SCP173 unless SCP foundation use it for commercial reasons, because there is a situation that many people have recognized SCP173.
