Sarvesh Shashi (born 15th April 1992), is an Indian entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of Zorba [1], a new age chain of Yoga Studios [2] that aims at teaching the traditional practice of yoga with a contemporary approach. [3]
Early life
Sarvesh Shashi was born in Thrissur, Kerala to the couple Shashi Kumar and Leena Shashi. He did his schooling from Chettinad Vidyashram in Chennai. He later enrolled for an undergraduate degree in Loyola College, Chennai which he discontinued later. Since childhood, Sarvesh was actively involved in Cricket and other extracurricular activities. His father Shashi Kumar is an entrepreneur and mother Leena Shashi is a homemaker. It was only at the age of 17 that he developed an interest in Yoga which led to the inception of Zorba.
Career
When Sarvesh was 17 [4], , his father asked him to continue the yoga classes which he had enrolled for but couldn’t complete. Sarvesh joined the yoga session, eager to find answers to all impending doubts. Under the guidance of his guruji, the seeds for the plant ‘Zorba’ were sowed.
He founded Zorba - A Renaissance Studio with the primary motive to spread the values of health and happiness by using Yoga as the base. [5] Zorba, in Greek, means to live each day fully. It is a chain of new age yoga studios, that brings the prestigious and ancient practice of healthy living, Yoga, and the current trends of modernism together to meet the various needs of this fast-paced generation. The first studio of Zorba was inaugurated at Dewa Towers, Chennai on December 1st, 2013 [6] Initially, they offered 14 forms of Yoga and developed to provide 25 forms [7].
