Hyde Hornet Motorcycle
The Hyde Harrier was a single cylinder British motorcycle, designed by Norman Hyde as a race bike in 1991 and launched as a road bike in 1995. Powered by a 600cc Austrian Rotax engine that could be bored out to 660cc and tuned to deliver 72hp and in a chassis developed by Harris Performance Products, the Hornet was capable of 126mph, making it the fastest single cylinder roadster of the time. Enthusiastically reviewed by the motorcycle press, the Hyde Hornet sold for £9995 in standard form, which put it in direct competition with multi cylinder Japanese superbikes, such as the Honda CBR900RR Fireblade. Demand was never sufficient for it to enter production in serious numbers and only a handful of examples exist today.
