Gadget-Bot Productions is a production company and concept design studio based in Los Angeles, California that develops concept designs, illustrations, and 3D art for other companies within the entertainment industry. [1] The company was founded in 2011 by Peggy Chung and Robert Simons to meet the industry need for design and original intellectual property. Robert and Peggy both attended ArtCenter College of Design. [1] [2] In addition to their work in film production and concept art design, Peggy and Robet had amassed a following of over 1.3 million on TikTok between their personal accounts and "Kaidro Chronicle" company account by April 2023. [3]
Gadget-Bot’s earliest projects contributed to science fiction film titles such as Ender’s Game and Pacific Rim. [1] [2] Following these projects, Gadget-Bot artists continued to produce concept art and designs for additional films, including The Amazing Spider-Man 2 [2] and Jurassic World. [4] [5]
During this time, Gadget-Bot Productions also worked with Mark Yang on an original intellectual property called “Momentum”. [2] However, this planned film never developed beyond a fully-realized concept trailer and became a financial challenge for the company. [1]
In the late 2010s and early 2020s, Gadget-Bot Productions contributed to Alita: Battle Angel [5] [6] and HBO Series Westworld. [7]
Following the release of the Momentum concept trailer, Gadget-Bot Productions pivoted to focus on the Call of Duty: Black Ops series of video games developed by Treyarch. [2] Gadget-Bot’s work on this series contributed to Call of Duty: Black Ops III, [2] Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, [1] and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. [1]
In addition, Gadget-Bot Productions has worked with Respawn Entertainment on Apex Legends [3] and Riot Games on Valorant. [1] In the early 2020s, Gadget-Bot Productions and spin-off Kaidro LLC began development of an action RPG based on their original IP called Kaidro: Clan Battles. [7] [8]
By 2023, Gadget-Bot Productions had already been developing the Kaidro intellectual property for over a decade. [3] The world of Kaidro combines fantasy with science fiction, exploring the conflict between spirituality and technology. [7] Gadget-Bot began publicly unveiling the story in 2020 through a webtoon called Kaidro: The Awakening, which has since amassed over 1.6 million views. [3] Since then, Kaidro has become a transmedia enterprise incorporating Web3 elements into the upcoming Kaidro: Clan Battles game while also developing an animated television series. [4] [5]
Though the Kaidro animated series is not expected to debut until at least 2025, a trailer was released in February 2024. [8] This trailer was produced in collaboration with Avatar: The Last Airbender staff writer Tim Hedrick and featured music composed by Odesza. [4] [5] Kaidro: Clan Battles is an upcoming PvP vE game that will incorporate RPG elements and an ongoing story. [7] Though Web3 elements will be incorporated into the game, these will be optional for players and integrate through the Kaidro website rather than directly in the game itself. This model allowed the Kaidro team to launch an open alpha playtest on Steam. [8]
Gadget-Bot originally planned to launch Kaidro: Clan Battles as part of Immutable, but migrated to the Ronin Network in February 2024. [8] In March 2024, the first Kaidro non-fungible token (NFT) became available through a free mint event that produced nearly 350,000 NFTs. Kaidro followed this with a premium mint event in April 2024. The publicly available NFTs generated for this event sold out in under 10 seconds. [8]
