Knitty Gritty is a Miami-based Indie instrumentalist band that was created in mid 2007 by bassist Chris Burg and guitarist Matthew Hersman. The band consists of Ryan Barrar (drums and percussion), Chris Burg (bass guitar), Jeffrey Feldman (lead guitar), and Matthew Hersman (rhythm guitar). The band began officially practicing and recording during December of 2007, commonly known as their experimental period. The recording will include several covers of existing songs as well as original material.

Following the band's successful experimental session in December was a four month hiatus where no practices or recordings were held. Burg and Feldman began experimenting separate projects, and despite several attempts by Barrar, the members never reunited to continue their musical progress.

Official Artwork

The Knitty Gritty logo features a capital letter K and capital letter G on either side of a ball of yarn with a knitting needle puncturing the top of the ball, and continuing out through the bottom. The Original design was first sketched by Burg in 2007. Burg then collaborated with Alec Spivack, a fellow student who would later become band manager, and they finalized the logo that is used by the band today.

Semi-visible in the logo are traces of grid-paper, which Burg intended on using as a pun on the band's name, which would therefore read "Knitty Griddy". However, all other band members disagreed, and the idea was abandoned.
