The paintings of Guy Stevens www.guystevensart.com "Although he has drawn inspiration from many of the impressionist and expressionist masters, his style and rhythm is atypical. When you stand in front of a Guy Stevens painting you feel as though you have been transported to an alternate reality. Each of Guy's paintings is a still-shot of the visual poetry the artist lives within. The artist true education and self discovery began after graduated from Furman University with a degree in the visual arts in 1970. Forty years later Guy has painted and sold paintings all over the world. During the same time frame, he has worked in nine studio-galleries in downtown Greenville, SC and has painted for months at a time in studios in NYC, Hawaii, Bermuda, Montreal, Paris, San Francisco, etc... "The interplay of light and texture is a prominent influence on the choice of subject and technique. I think of myself as an expressionist. I am an intuitive expressive colorist, striving to give the viewer a sense of uplifting inner connection to my images. The simple truth is, I love painting. I love everything about it. I remember being a child of four, and sitting on the floor with a giant box of crayons. My attention was totally captures by the rich colors and how they blended and fit together. As a professional artist of forty years I still study colors and its connections to mankind. Many of my patrons appreciate this element in my work above all else." [[File: [[File: [[File: [[File:
