The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) conducted a case study on California's policies in support of renewable and distributed energy resources for the U.S. Department of Energy. As of recently California is the leading state in Distributed Energy Resources in the United States. The PNNL conducted a case study on the energy policies of the state of California and its effect on the success of Renewables and Distributed Energy Resources. Environmental and Climate goals of the legislative and executive levels of state government are attributed to the policies made in support of energy sustainability. California has high rates of droughts, heat waves, and continues to suffer repercussions of the California electricity crisis of 2000-2001 along with many more factors of high energy demands. Energy sustainability has become a priority that has guided their state energy policies in creating California into the country’s leading state in energy sustainability.

New York, New York, San Jose, California, and Baltimore, Maryland are cities chosen from the United states by the UN to pilot the sustainable city initiative. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) are part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that aims to support these cities by creating collaborations with universities and municipal sustainable development efforts along with sustainable policy to become pilot cities to serve as models for cities worldwide.

The San Jose State University in collaboration with the United Nations Sustainable Development Solution Network describes efforts and a framework for achieving sustainable development at a local level. It evaluates the historical efforts and present efforts of the city of San Jose in sustainable development as well as the policy implemented in order to support sustainable development. It is a comprehensive framework that aligns with the SDG goals and also integrates the present efforts of the city of San Jose. It describes a systematic approach on evaluating the progress of sustainability at a local level.
I believe that you have some really good resources showing the polices and guide lines that show for environmental sustainability.
