Phi Nu Kappa (ΦΝΚ) is a non-profit, non-collegiate social and service organization for women of all backgrounds and sexual preferences. The sorority was established on February 20, 2002 in Tallahassee Florida

HER story

The HER story of Phi Nu Kappa Sorority is one that is very unique. It dates back to the founding days of our father Sorority, Kappa Psi Kappa Sorority, Inc. Then it was only a twinkle in the eye of the father Sorority, but someone dared to make it reality. Two women went to the men of Kappa Psi Kappa Sorority, Inc. in search of organizing a Sorority for "stud" females. Kappa Psi Kappa gave then them the information that they would need to bring their idea to life. The ladies called a meeting with the founders of Kappa Psi Kappa to view the information, and confirm that it was concrete. The information was reviewed but a surprise came shortly afterwards.

These women asked if a "family" could be created that would compose a Fraternity for males, a sorority for feminine females, and a Fraternity for “stud” females. As the meeting concluded, the 5 Founders conversed and Elite Founder Blue Incognito was put in charge of the founding of Phi Nu Kappa. Weeks of organization took place with the founder of Alpha Psi Kappa, Valerie DeShazer. Thus, when it was all said and done, on February 20, 2002 in Tallahassee, FL, Phi Nu Kappa Sorority & Alpha Psi Kappa Sorority was founded, as "twin" organization. These two organizations became a counterpart of Kappa Psi Kappa Sorority as daughter & son organizations. Later two women from the central part of the United States contacted Phi Nu Kappa with interest in the sorority. The two outstanding women gathered the remainder of the information for Phi Nu Kappa Sorority. These women became the unofficial founders of Phi Nu Kappa Sorority.

Today, Phi Nu Kappa Sorority Inc. prides itself on providing a service to the community. Phi Nu Kappa participates in a multitude of community service for a range of different communities while fellowshipping in Sisterhood. The Mission of Phi Nu Kappa Sorority, Incorporated is to help enhance the quality of life within the community. Phi Nu Kappa will provide the community service needed to collectively impact the community we live in. We will live by our motto and principles set by our founders, so that the world will know Phi Nu Kappa Sorority Inc for who we are. Phi Nu Kappa Sorority will address concerns and aspects that impact all communities educationally, civilly, and sexually.

Purpose

The founders wished to create an organization that brought together the community rather than set them apart because of who they are. They believed that each potential member brings with them a sense of individualism and should be judged by her own merits without regard of race, nationality, or sexual preferences. They created this Sisterhood with the hope that women of any color or sexual preference could bond together for the greater of the community. The purpose of Phi Nu Kappa Sorority Inc as a singular entity is to uphold its principles of leadership and service. Phi Nu Kappa strives to set the example of true sisterhood so that all women of the United stated of America as well as abroad would have the opportunity to be exposed to these principles and mission. With no regard of ethnicity, racial background, gender, religious beliefs or creed Phi Nu Kappa sets out to provide community service to all non- profit LGBT and Non-LGBT charitable organizations.

Membership

Membership into the Phi Nu Kappa Sisterhood is open to any woman over the age of 18 who has obtained his High School Diploma or GED who poses high morals. Current enrollment in an institute of higher learning is not a requirement for membership. Phi Nu Kappa Sorority Inc is a Service and Social organization, Community Service is not only a requirement to maintain active status membership within the Sorority, and it is also a requirement to apply for membership. Phi Nu Kappa Sorority Inc has intake classes three times a year, in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Once a Pledge has successfully completed the Membership Intake class or Line and meets the required prerequisites for Membership, full Sisterhood is conferred. Phi Nu Kappa holds a zero tolerance policy towards hazing and adheres to an extensive Risk Management program.

Chapters and Colonies

As of July 18, 2011 Phi Nu Kappa Sorority Inc has 4 active Chapters. Phi Nu Kappa is a non-collegiate organization, its Chapters / Colonies are city based, and not centered to a particular College or University. Chapters in Phi Nu Kappa Sorority Inc are made up of five or more Active Sorors who have successfully applied for a Chapter charter. Phi Nu Kappa chapters and colonies are assigned a sequential Greek letter designation according to the order in which they were chartered. The oldest chapter is the Alpha Chapter, located in Tallahassee, FL. Subsequent chapters were assigned successive Greek letters of the Greek alphabet, from Beta, Gamma, Delta, etc., through to the last letter of the Greek alphabet, Omega. After all single-letter designations were used, chapters were assigned double-letter combinations in the fashion "Alpha Alpha," "Alpha Beta," "Alpha Gamma," etc. The designation "Alpha Omega Kappa" is reserved as the Grand Chapter. All deceased Sorors, or Eternal Blue Topaz, are placed in this Chapter.

As of July 18, 2011 there are 15 active Colonies in Phi Nu Kappa Sorority Inc. Colonies are made up of four or less sisters who have successfully applied for a Colony charter.

Tau Kappa Phi, Inc

The history of The Kappa Family is very unique because the family was not formed all at one time. We, the members of The Kappa Family, all had beautiful but separate beginnings. The "family" was started at the founding of Kappa Psi Kappa Sorority, Inc. on August 17, 2001 in Tallahassee, FL. This marks only the beginning of what was to come. The founders of Kappa Psi Kappa had a vision of a sisterhood that would bind the two organizations, but a surprise was ahead! As the year 2002 came started to unfold, so did two additional organizations that would add to this "Kappa Family."

It was during this year that would complete the founding of The Kappa Family. On February 20, 2002 in Tallahassee, FL on the campus of Florida State University the twin sorority and Sorority of Phi Nu Kappa and Alpha Psi Kappa was formed. After the remarkable formation of these two organizations there was a great "FOUNDERS MEETING." It was then that these organizations became brothers and sisters organizations. On March 28, 2002 The Kappa Family was founded and began organizing the organizations as separate entities but also as one family. But this was not the end of the founding of The Kappa Family. There was more to come, as two of the founders of Kappa Psi Kappa started an organization that was named The Kappa Sapphires. This was the last organization in The Kappa Family that was founded on April 8, 2002. It was then that The Kappa Family was complete. Later, within the year 2002 The Kappa Family would gain a finishing touch. It was on August 13, 2002 that the founders of The Kappa Family gave the national organization Greek letters. Tau Kappa Phi (The Kappa Family) was now a Greek lettered organization whole heartedly and would serve as Grand Chapter for all members. ^{[1] [2]}
