There was 1 in Japan and 3 in China after Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, stoking fears of mutations caused by radiation.

Til (February 2012 – March 14, 2012) was a rare earless bunny who was crushed to death when a television cameraman stepped on him. [2] [3] Til was born in a litter of 6 at a zoo in Limbach-Oberfrohna, Saxony, Germany. Til was going to be introduced as a new German celebrity animal but was a victim of the news team invited to film him. Til's death attracted world wide news coverage.
Til was named after Til Schweiger who wrote, produced, directed and starred in Keinohrhasen (Rabbits Without Ears). [4]
Til's body was frozen and will be stuffed and exhibited. The zoo has been offered replacement bunnies, but plans to reject them all. [5]
