Physical Features:

In a vase from 500 BCE, the Charon is shown as an older man.

The Charon was mainly depicted as having an unkept beard and red eyes.

Family Ties:

The Charon is the son of Erebus and Nyx.

Additional Information:

The Charon was a man with unwaivering conviction, not letting any mortals pass unless the set conditions were met. Only Hercules and Orpheus were able to pass by these conditions.

Orpheus did not sway the Charon's conviction in Nightsong : The Legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, making it show that the Charon has much power as he makes Orpheus faint with only a touch of his pole. In this depiction of the Charon, it is also shown that he has a distaste for mortals.

In Nightsong : The Legend of Orpheus and Eurydice it is also shown the the Charon's boat is worn down due to his work over the years.

When refering to Etruscan mythology, the Charon was depicted as a demon of death.
