August

I was born on an August Bank Holiday, when it was a real bank holiday i.e. the last Monday in the month. It was a long hot day. The poor man was exhausted. After nine in the evening, his job done, he had to lie down. It was his first birth. He charged £2!

I cannot be angry because an August Bank Holiday is now the end of the month and not at the beginning. After all, August is a created month added to the old Julian Calendar, to celebrate an emperor. It helped to give us twelve months not ten. Twelve is a much more flexible number. Why were we not born with twelve fingures and toes.

Thus 10 would have twelve digits.

The three best things about August are:

  • Sun in Spain
    • Sand and sea in Spain
      • Sangria

Ombre

Ombre is a card game for three players. [1] It is played with a 40 card deck. [2]
