Education:

He has done his master (Master of Science, M.Sc.) from North Bengal University [3], Siliguri, India. He has been awarded by University Gold Medel for obtaining first class first position in M.Sc. ( BOTANY) in the academic year 1997. During his M.Sc. course he has worked with Prof. Prabir Kumar Sarkar (a well known food microbiologists) and Dr. Ranadhir Chakraborty ( Molecular Biologist, presently head of Dept. Biotechnology, of North Bengal University)and develop expertise in Food Microbiology and Molecular Biology. He has isolated few sulfur oxidizing bacteria and work on their ability of thiosuflate consumption ability in low pH.

He has done his B.Sc. in Botany honors from A. B. N. Seal College, Coochbehar city of West Bengal, in the year of 1995. During his B.Sc. course he has developed interest towards medicinally improtant plants in the Darjeeling Himalaya

He has done his Class X and XII study in Science from Tarai Tarapada Adarsha Vidyalaya, Siliguri, in 1990 and 1992

Immidiately after master degree he joined in a research project entitled "Monitoring of Physicochemical, Microbiological and Hydrological parameters of River Torsa of North Bengal" in the year 1999. In the project he worked in the research group of Prof. Ashis Kumar Nanda ( well known organic chemist and former Head of Department of Chemistry, North Bengal University) on assessing river water quality. Comparative analysis of river water quality of Torsa [4], Kaljani [5], Jaldhaka [6] and Mahananda [7]rivers of North Bengal yielded several valuable data which were later published in ' Journal of Environmental Biology [8]' and ' Archives of Microbiology [9]' reserach Journal. While working in this project he has develop expertise in techniques used in analytical chemistry and utilized the gained-expertise for further growth of his carrier.

He qualified CSIR-UGC conducted National Eligibility Test (NET) and attracted Junier Research Fellowship [10] (JRF) from CSIR [11] in Life Sciences and joined Department of Botany, North Bengal University [12] in the research project "Study on the Dynamics of Metal Resistant Bacterial Population of Torsa River with Special Emphasis on Identifying Genes Encoding Resistance to Nickel and Cobalt in Suitable Gram Negative Isolates". He has worked in this project for 4 years and published three papers and his Ph.D. Thesis entitled "“Identification of nickel resistance genes in suitable Gram-negative bacterial isolates with reference to the physicochemical and sanitary status of River Torsa". His Ph.D. supervisor was Dr. Ranadhir Chakraborty and Dr. Ashis Kumar Nanda. While working in the project he has described a new species of Enterobacteria Serratia ureilytica and worked on nickel resistance genotype of Acinetobacter junii BB1A. Later his laboratory observed quoramsensing phenotype of A. junii BB1A and Dr. R. Chakraborty published a research article on this during 2008 in research journal FEMS Microbiology

Bhaskar is presently serving DuPont Company as Research Scientist in Industrial Biotechnology Division. He is working in [DuPont Knowledge Centre[, Hyderabad. His interest is in process development for biofuel production from renewable resources.
