Victor Edward Dodsworth (2 November 1911 – 4 November 1986) was an English footballer who played for Grimsby Town. He also played cricket for Lincolnshire [1] [2]. Dodsworth started his professional career at Gainsborough Trinity as an inside forward, before signing for Grimsby Town in 1931 in preference to Liverpool. [3]

He helped Grimsby to win the Second Division title in 1933–34. Dodsworth signed for Manchester United in 1935 along with teammate Ron Ferrier, but did not make a first team appearance and subsequently transferred in January 1936 to Doncaster Rovers for an undisclosed club record fee. [4]

In June 1937, after an injury hit season, Dodsworth turned down a new contract from Doncaster to pursue a career with Grimsby Police. [5]
