Yunieski Gonzalez took a huge step up in competition in his next fight as he faced former Lineal/WBC/The Ring light-heavyweight champion Jean Pascal on July 25th, 2015 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. In a entertaining and competitive 10-round fight, Gonzalez lost a controversial unanimous decision to Pascal as all three judges scored the fight 96-94 for Pascal. Most observers ringside thought Gonzalez should had won the fight as he controlled the pace of the fight and was the aggressor the whole fight. Even though the Compubox numbers were nearly even, many felt Gonzalez punches were more powerful and his activity throughout the fight was the difference.
