Abramowicz v. Lefkowitz

Abramowicz v. Lefkowitz (1972) was a case brought by the Center for Constitutional Rights, representing over 300 women plaintiffs, against the State of New York challenging the restriction on abortion. While it was unsuccessful, it laid out the groundwork for future challenges about the legality of abortion. The case was withdrawn after the New York State Legislature voted, by one vote, to legalize abortion before the 24th week.
