E Magazine started 2 years ago quite accidentally when Althea was invited to be the director of NAFE Los Angeles. Having already published 6 books on topics ranging from children to social and business issues, she recognized an opportunity to showcase the talent from the NAFE speakers. After a few drafts and a rocky start, E Magazine was born.

In the beginning, all the writers came from the Nafe pool of talent. And aggressively promoted by NAFE leadership specifically Robbie Motter, the NAFE Global Coordinator. Over time the magazine has grown to over 60 writers in 7 countries. The distribution started with NAFE and is now reaching a base of 1.4 million women and men. E Magazine now has readers on every continent which grows each month.

With the launching of ETM news media site, E Magazine will experience another area of growth placing it within the group of small media networks. These are still the early days, but E Magazine and ETM media networks have landed on a niche that will be around for a long time to come.

Early life

Born Althea Goode on February 12, 1960, Althea is the daughter of Jewel Maxie Goode and Arabella Bowman. Althea was named after her paternal Grandmother Althea Walton (born 1894 previously known as Althea Morgan). Her father Jewel retired as a professor from Stanford University, Army Corp of Engineers. Her mother retired as a teacher some years later. During the early years, Althea and her sister were watched by her grandmother and grew up in southern California. The neighborhood was, at the time, traditional middle class. The women stayed at home while the husbands worked. Lawns were cut, rose busses trimmed and porches sweep. During the summer, in fact, every summer, Althea and her sister played outside in the middle of the streets until the street lights came on. Ten a neighborhood had a milkman, an ice cream truck, Helms bakery truck, a corner store that sold an entire assortment of candy and gum for a nickel. Her grandmother would have breakfast cooked every morning, lunch and dinner. Althea remembers neighborhood club meetings and bridge parties with Jello rings and pineapple chunks in it. Little crackers and chicken salad. They took piano lessons down the street and ballet lessons every Saturday morning at Mildred Conns Dance studio in Lemert park.

Education

Althea completed Masters in Business Administration, Claremont Graduate University - The Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management, 2001 Masters of Science in Management of Information Systems, Claremont Graduate University, School of Information Science, 2001 Wharton School of Business-Mergers and Acquisitions Certification Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Marketing, California State University, Los Angeles 1988

Career

In 1990, Althea became a stockbroker and worked for a small boutique firm in West Los Angeles. Over the next several years she worked independently as a consultant and financial advisor. Interviewing and structuring financial plans for hundreds of families. She designed intergenerational plans for nonprofit organizations, institutions, universities, and foundations. In 2014, Althea started ETM Media.

Media and Publications

ETM Media started with its flagship magazine E The Magazine For Today’s Female Executive-three and a half years ago, 2014. E The Magazine started with a foundation organization called NAFE National Association of Female Executives. Over the next 3 years, E Magazine would grow to partner with half a dozen women’s organizations and a direct circulation of 1.4 million. E Magazine is on its 40th publication.

Based on the success of E Magazine and realizing Men would benefit from their own awesome publication, this spring we will launch M The Magazine with Real Success Talk for Men.

ETM Media (ETMMedia.net) was initially launched to house the magazine’s 200 columnists and it’s 2,500 articles and features. As the concept of ETM Media grew, we discovered other great attributes we’ve acquired as a company just because we listened to feedback from our readers, viewers, and listeners. We also realized early on that we were providing something no one else on any other media platform was doing. Going deeper on the issues and giving our readers an opportunity to participate. We realized that real change was a consensus through a process of information, feedback, more information, discussions, and consensus. We know everyone won’t agree about everything, but amazingly enough, there is a lot we do agree on. And these areas of agreement can be global at times. Furthermore, there are a lot of people are willing to do for other people if that interaction is easy, accessible and painless. From this revelation, we developed our tagline. ETM Media “Inspiring Humanity to Engage Upon Itself”. As you read this Private Placement Memorandum Summary, know that ETM media actually does represent the next phase in media platforms.
