Biography

Shira Kaplan grew up in Israel [1]. Her hobbies inlcuding running, skiing, and poetry [2]. She is currently living in Rueschlikon, Switzerland [3]. She is also currently married and has a little girl named Yardeni [4].

Education

Kaplan graduated from Harvard with a Bachelor of Arts and continued to get her masters in arts at the University of St. Gallen HSG [5]. When Kaplan was at Harvard she studied Mandarin Chinese and was also a Davis Scholar [6]. She was able to receive technology training when she was in the military for the Israel 8200 Elite Technology Unit of Intelligence [7].

Career and Work

She is the creator of a cyber security firm for Israel corporations. She is currently the CEO of this firm and it is named Cyverse AG [8]. Kaplan has previous experience from working in global corporations including Teva Pharmaceuticals and Bank Julius Baer & Co [9]. She worked as an investor relations associate at Teva Pharmaceuticals [10]. Kaplan also became a Venture Advisor for the company EQT in May 2017 [11].

Major Contribution

Shira Kaplan is an example of a woman working in technology where the ratio of women to men is significantly lower. She stated in a interview with "Women in Business" that she hopes men will be more open to women working while also being mothers [12] . She also hopes to see more women not feeling guilty about taking maternity leave, and being confident that they will excel when they return [13]. She was awarded the title of a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2017 [14].
