James Hay (19 December 1856 - 14 April 1927) was a Scottish painter. [1] [2]
His father was James Smart Hay (born c.1829 - 1 June 1887), a die and stamp cutler from Morningside, Edinburgh. [3] [4]
His mother was Mary Smith (born c. 1829) from Edinburgh. James Smart Hay and Mary married on 1 July 1855 in Edinburgh. This was Mary's second marriage.
James Hay was born on 19 December 1856 in Queen St, Edinburgh. [5] [6]
