I chose to critically evaluate a Wikipedia article on Copyright infringement, more specifically Software Piracy.

Is everything in the article relevant to the article topic? Is there anything that distracted you?

Every bit of information on the Wiki Page is relevant to Software Piracy, and has a fair bit of variety in regards to the information provided, more than I would have expected.

Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position? Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented?

The are article take a fairly neutral stand point in regard to tone, however it does focus greatly on legal aspects along with the negative the software piracy brings, which leads me to believe that the motives for piracy, even the more morally sound ones, are being ignored. However there is no specific instance where those who pirate software are being looked down on, there is simply just a focus on piracy information.

Check a few citations. Do the links work? Does the source support the claims in the article?

All the links I have tried work great and do align with what is being said on the initial wiki page.

Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference? Where does the information come from? Are these neutral sources? If biased, is that bias noted?

It does not seem that all the facts are directly referenced, however there sources are located in other parts of the wiki article. Nonetheless, the information does indeed look reliable and not very biased, as once again the wiki seems to just be focusing on Piracy as an illegal think.

Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added?

All the information seems to be updated. What could be added is more case studies, especially more recent ones considering all the new types of technologies that are airing which could insight new forms of piracy. I think there is a lot missing, like the notable shutdowns of some large pirating sites, like Pirate Bay and BitTorrent. In addition to this there should be info regarding why some people torrent.

Check out the Talk page of the article. What kinds of conversations, if any, are going on behind the scenes about how to represent this topic?

No messages (Unless I looked in the wrong spot).

How is the article rated? Is it a part of any WikiProjects?

I cannot seem to find the rating of the article, however it is apart of 4 wiki projects.

- Organized Crime

- Law

- Internet

- Pirate Politics

How does the way Wikipedia discusses this topic differ from the way we've talked about it in class?

Have recently switched into the class, have not been to a class yet....
