Can someone please add the "cat=" and/or "cat1=" parameters (from {{
Given name}}) to this template? It doesn't exactly have to be in the same way as with {{
Given name}}, as we saw
back in April 2021.

Category:Surname template has extra parameters, don't you agree?

It is extremely non-obvious why the type=both parameter is available in {{ given name}} but not in this template. There are many surnames that are primarily surnames, but which are also used as a given name. It seems a bit odd to have to use the given name template on an article that is primarily about the surname. older ≠ wiser 21:42, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
We are discussing whether this template should be categorised as a disambiguation page template. Please see Wikipedia talk:Content assessment#Pages rated as Disambig-class which are not disambiguation pages.
