Template suitability

Hi there

I can certainly see how a template could be useful, but it's not very user friendly on the page, as it is larger than the with of a normal wiki page at standard resolution - i'm not sure all the flags help in that respect. It also takes up a lot of space - maybe the country list could dock?

I'm not sure how to work with this type of template, so i'll leave it to others, but they're just my suggestions!

Hi Owain, sorry about the issue with the screen resolution. That's the problem with having a 17 inch screen (the template fits in perfectly on my laptop).
Last night I created proportional columns so that it should shrink to fit. My thoughts are similar to yours in regards to the technical aspects. My intention was to create something workable and let the gurus sort the details out. That said, I will have a go at editing the box myself here: Template:Red_Cross_Red_Crescent_Movement/sandbox TimClicks( talk) 23:48, 2 August 2008 (UTC) reply

Flags unnecessary

The flags seem quite unnecessary and just cause problems loading pages and looking at the template. I suggest that they should be removed. I'm fairly sure there's a policy somewhere about unnecessary use of national flags, but can't find it at a quick look. PamD ( talk) 14:15, 9 March 2011 (UTC) reply

I've asked about it at Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style_(icons)#Flags_in_navbox_template. PamD ( talk) 14:29, 9 March 2011 (UTC) reply
Wow. The flags don't seem to contribute either a navigational value (there are no subcategories here, except perhaps the sub-national Chian societies), nor do they refer to the involvement of a state entity. I think they would be better off removed.-- Carwil ( talk) 14:50, 26 April 2011 (UTC) reply

Licensing template for Red Cross Red Crescent emblems

Hey! I was just wondering if anyone here knows if we have a template for use on file pages (such as Australian Red Cross full logo.png) that can be used to make notice of restrictions on the use of these emblems. If you're unaware, there's international laws that prevent the use of the Red Cross and Red Crescent symbol, and consequentially, national laws such as Australia's protect the use of the emblem. Flagicon to Flagdeco

From the standpoint of WP:BIDIRECTIONAL, any page linked on a non-infobox template should have the template on it. The heavy use of Flagicon means that for example there is a link to Germany, for which it doesn't make sense to have the reverse link. I propose that Flagicon be replaced with Flagdeco which will visually look the same but no longer have the flags link to the appropriate national page.
