I'm looking at the Mecca Time page. The 40-degree line is close enough to Mecca for the page, but the caption should be changed to "39°49′34″ E". -- 109.157.24.225 ( talk) 20:29, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

This template does not work well for drawing meridians close to 180°. A map centered on the Pacific ocean works better for this purpose, as shown by the figures on the right.
I made the second map specifically for the article 180th meridian. This is certainly an improvement, but I am not very happy with my solution because the red line and the label “180°” are part of the image. This has two problems:
- as the image is scaled down to 300 px, the label is not as readable as plain text,
- the inadequacy of this template is not only for the 180th meridian, it is just as bad on 179 E and 179 W.
The real solution would be to either modify this template or make an alternative one, giving the option to have the map centered on the Pacific. I was willing to do it but the template is just too complex for me to understand. Is anyone willing to help?
