Sports Template‑class

This template is within the scope of WikiProject Sports, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of sport-related topics on Wikipedia. Cleanup : * Sport governing body (this should-be-major article is in a shameful state) * Field hockey (History section needs sources and accurate information - very vague at the moment.) * Standardize Category:American college sports infobox templates to use same font size and spacing. * Sport in the United Kingdom - the Popularity section is incorrect and unsourced. Reliable data is required. * Fix project template and/or "to do list" Current version causes tables of content to be hidden unless/until reader chooses "show." Expand : Professional sports (crucial article explaining the salaried undertaking of sports) * Sport industry (currently a sub-stub) Photo : for pages listed in Category:Wikipedia requested images of sports and games and sub-categories. Stubs : work on articles in Category:Sports stubs Update : List of world sports championships Other : Translate the page of sport in each country from corresponding article in other language Wikipedia to English Wikipedia which was marked in red. Categorize: Gather all (major/ olympic) sports to be part of this project RfCs: answer requests for comment

Handball Template‑class

User:Sportsfan 1234 did some unconstructive edits and wrote "THIS template is used to navigate ONLY between Handball at xxxx Olympics, all other information is on separate templates and is duplicated".

User:Sportsfan 1234 please ask the members of the WikiProject Handball before you do such an big edit. This template was ok for many years and everybody was able to navigate easy through the handball articles of the Olympic games.

@ Kante4 and LeFnake: should this template be minimalistic like Sportsfan 1234 want or should it be reverted to the last version, with all necessary links?

I agree as this template just covers the handball sport at the olympics and there should be all relevant links. And per BRD there should habe been a discussion after the first revert. So hopefully there will be one. Kante4 ( talk) 10:47, 28 March 2022 (UTC) reply

I disagree. This template is for "Handball at the Olympics" Not Handball's men's tournament, rosters etc. We don't link each individual event in other individual sports and we shouldn't for team sports. Sportsfan 1234 ( talk) 01:01, 2 April 2022 (UTC) reply

@ Sportsfan 1234: Seeing that other templates ( Basketball, Field hockey, Football, Water polo) have those same links you removed here (and were also reverted at the basketball template and made the same edits at the volleyball template) i see no reason to not have those link showing. If you disagree you should start a discussion at the Olympics project, but until then the status quo should be used. Kante4 ( talk) 14:43, 8 April 2022 (UTC) reply
