Hi. Using this Template to do family trees, I noticed that the charts are displayed differently in Chrome and Firefox/IE. Chrome tend to break the rows (lines) in an undesirable places. This example is a screenshot from Chrome (wich is bad), and this is from Firefox (the proper way of displaying). I don’t know if it is only a Template issue or only a Chrome’s one, but I wish to fix it. Or can someone explain to me if I’m doing something wrong? I’m using <br /> to break the rows. This is the chart from the pictures. I know that this seems trivial, but these broken rows are making the text more difficult to read. Generally speaking, in Chrome the boxes looks bigger than in Firefox or IE -- Daduxing ( talk) 11:23, 7 February 2016 (UTC)

Wouldn't be better if we had the default wideness of the boxes' borders at 1px instead of 2px? The present default wideness is too thick and it's distracting the attention from the un-bolded text. A more thinner border looks better. -- Daduxing ( talk) 10:22, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
What can be done with the following issue.
I noticed that the connecting lines are not perpendicular on the middle of the boxes, tending to move toward left or right, if the boxes are not vertically aligned (

If I insert some line breaks to try to make the boxes relatively equal the problem is not completely resolved, and on other big charts isn't a solution at all.
Is there a way make the lines to be on the middle of the boxes, when the boxes are not vertically aligned, and without having the boxes deformed? I'm using Chrome. I see that Firesox also has this issue but is somehow better then with Chrome. --

Hello. I wanted to make a family tree in the sandbox, but I am not so sure which lines should I use. Correct me if I am mistaken. Solid lines mean that these people are related. Dashed lines mean that these people aren't related. So what do the dotted lines mean? And which lines do I use if I don't know the exact parents, grandparents etc. but I know that this person is a descendant of another person? -- Shader301202 ( talk) 14:24, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
Ah, I wondered whether it might mean "not legally married". So how would that be shown? There are many examples of royal romps producing children that were not in the line of succession but nevertheless were recognised with titles etc. One of the more examples was James Scott, 1st Duke of Monmouth "the eldest illegitimate son of Charles II of England, Scotland and Ireland, and his mistress Lucy Walter." -- John Maynard Friedman ( talk) 15:35, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

I've been having a great time learning to use this function -- aside from which I'm a very visual thinker and it is much more useful for me to SEE the relationship rather than read about it. But for as much as I try to pre-plan, things end up being trial and error... adding and subtracting tiles in order to have things match up. I suspect that I am missing something very simple, and I would appreciate any information related to charting the chart before you type the chart. Thanks!!! Kindly add the Color option for the connecting lines. In the
Module:Tree chart/data, the present color is limited to black due to the below lines.
local SLD = '1px solid black'
local DSH = '1px dashed black'
local DOT = '1px dotted black'
, which results in limiting the no. of relations possible in a chart only to three. Please do the changes for the Tree chart to add color option for each type of line, and carry the value to the
Module:Tree chart/data to represent different kind of relations.

I’m surprised to see that the familytree.js script was deleted without a proper debate on the subject. That was a valuable tool to make the family trees because it was far more easier to create complex charts with it than it is with the present temple.
I noticed that the connecting lines are not perpendicular on the middle of the boxes, tending to move toward left or right, if the boxes are not vertically aligned (
See here) or if the size of the boxes is different. Note that the the middle of the box is where the # is placed.

What is the best way to add a legend or clarification to the bottom of the chart? e.g. the chart in Cleopatra. Sometimes, it's helpful to clarify the difference between dashed vs solid vs dotted line. HaEr48 ( talk) 05:55, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

The Familytree.js tool does not recognize the new name/parameters of this template ({{Tree chart/start|

Thanks!!! The Mol,

Shouldn't we have a reevaluation of the decision taken? That script shouldn't have been deleted -- Daduxing ( talk) 18:14, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

The last column comes out very narrow in {{ tree chart}} but works well with {{ family tree}}. See for example Kiszka family and the old version (note far right column with "Janusz Kiszka"). Also could not get the far right column to align with the relationship lines in Manvydas family ( old edit), but they work beautifully when switched to {{ family tree}}. Any clues? I am nowhere near technical enough to figure out what's going on. Thanks, Renata ( talk) 06:02, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
