Use Portal bar when only portals displayed?

I've modified Module:Subject bar/sandbox to call Module:Portal bar when this template is called with only portal arguments (no sister links). This causes the output of this template to be identical to {{ Portal bar}} when given the same inputs. I thought this would make better visual consistency across WP.

Before I make it go live, what do other editors think? See a comparison of before/after at Template:Subject bar/testcaseshike395 ( talk) 23:50, 3 December 2021 (UTC) reply

Later --- I've thought of something even simpler. I made a version of {{ Sister project links}} that is similar to {{ Portal bar}}: it makes a list of sister projects in a bar. So the sandbox version simply calls Module:Portal bar for the first row and Module:Sister project links for the second row. See Template:Subject bar/testcases. Comments? Suggestions? — hike395 ( talk) 15:20, 5 December 2021 (UTC) reply

Add TemplateData?

Having no template data on this is very annoying especially considering it's locked so I couldn't add it myself. If someone with the permissions could do this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ―  Levi_OP Talk 23:33, 26 January 2022 (UTC) reply

TemplateData goes on the documentation subpage, Template:Subject bar/doc, not the template itself. You should be able to edit the documentation page, and in edit mode there is a "Manage TemplateData" button at the top (above the normal edit window). Usually "Manage TemplateData" presents a list of suggested parameters (based on what parameters are already being called by the template); but that isn't happening (I'm not sure if that's a temporary bug or what). Add WikiProject Parameter

Is there any objection to including a parameter to generate links to Wikiprojects? Any tips on how I can do it? Guilherme Burn ( talk) 20:19, 31 March 2023 (UTC) reply

I believe that would violate the guideline against self-reference. This template is used in articles (not talk pages). Articles don't mention Wikiprojects. — hike395 ( talk) 06:21, 1 April 2023 (UTC) reply
