The current scope is stated as "more common stylisation or to the owner of the trademark." However, I believe this excludes uses on redirects like
Dacron and
Plexiglas, which are trademark redirects to
Polyethylene terephthalate and
Poly(methyl methacrylate), respectively. In these cases, I think the scope expansion would be to something like "more common stylisation, more formal or technical name, or to the owner of the trademark." In principle, an expansion/re-scoping of R-from-brand-name could also serve this purpose; I've proposed something like this at
Template talk:R from brand name#Use this template for non-drug brandnames? Your thoughts on which would make more sense and any other thoughts on the matter would be useful. Thanks. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 00:39, 31 October 2022 (UTC)reply
