Assess : newly added and existing articles, maybe nominate some good B-class articles for
GA; independently assess some as A-class, regardless of GA status.
Cleanup : *
Sport governing body (this should-be-major article is in a shameful state) *
Field hockey (History section needs sources and accurate information - very vague at the moment.) * Standardize
Category:American college sports infobox templates to use same font size and spacing. *
Sport in the United Kingdom - the
Popularity section is incorrect and unsourced. Reliable data is required.
* Fix project template and/or "to do list" Current version causes tables of content to be hidden unless/until reader chooses "show."

Why is the TfD relevant?
I am not attempting to delete the template, I am merely attempting to make it a more useful version. Since that more useful version already exists under another name, this name can simply be redirected to that name.
The TfD says keep, I recognize that. I am not attempting to delete the template. I am keeping it, and also editing it to improve it (which is the whole point of WP anyway).
I agree that a redirect clearly goes against that TFD. I propose a third solution to split this template to
Template:Summer Olympic sports and
Template:Winter Olympic sports. This builds on my rationale of that deletion discussion, i.e. those on the main sport article are much more likely to want to look through sports which occur in the same Olympics. I can think of many situations where a user would want to go from
Luge to
ski jumping, and from
athletics to
swimming (sport), but I can't imagine it's a common desire to want to go from luge to swimming. I think this change addresses the link relevance issue which was the driver of the original deletion request. If no one objects, I'll make the move shortly.
