Use actual name
Please use the actual name of the prize in the template. Don't use Wikipedia to spread lies. //
Liftarn
That is the official short name. We can also use the full name if you like. But before you go on and be bold again please bring it up to discussion. //
Liftarn
No, Dybya os more "recognizable" then "George W Bush", but we don't use that. Also Wikipedia should not be used to spread lies and article names should not be offensive. //
Liftarn
For 100000th time: if you don't like this name go complain in the talk page of [Nobel Prize in Economics] rather than waste everyones time in every single reference in all wikipedia. --

If you don't like the name of the prize complain to the Bank fo Sweden and ask them to change it. Good luck with that. //
Liftarn
In case you didn't notice, this is not the Bank of Sweden's website, this is an encyclopedia that descrives the real world and the names people in the real world use. --
Uriel12:58, 15 October 2007 (UTC)reply
Yes, and in the real world it's called Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. That's the name of the prize. And it's called an Academy Award, not an "Oscar" as well. //

Nobel Prize in Economics
There is clear consensus for a use of the shorter name; the only uncertainty is whether the word "Memorial" has to be included; according to both the majority of opinions expressed in
Talk:Nobel Prize in Economics, and the Common names policy, it shouldn't be, so I moved the page changed the title back to Nobel Prize in Economics. --

The title is one thing, what is used in the body text is another. According to
Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Identity "Use terminology that subjects use for themselves (self-identification) whenever this is possible." and here it clearly is possible. Also
WP:HOAX say "Please do not attempt to put misinformation into Wikipedia to test our ability to detect and remove it.". //
Liftarn
This is pretty much an endless discussion that is taking place on a regular basis. But, as I pointed out, there seem to be a strong consensus for the shorter name. --

Sorry, votes doesn't change the name of the prize and the prize is called "Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel" that's what should be used in the articles. And as it says on
WP:HOAX "Hoaxes in Wikipedia are considered vandalism, and persistent perpetrators of hoaxes are subject to blocking and banning." so I suggest you back down. //
Liftarn
If you find the long official name more relevant, please consult the endless debate and votes at
Talk:Nobel Prize in Economics. So far, a broad majority obviously finds the short form correct enough, but if you initiate another vote, you might get a different result. Furthermore, if you find the term "Nobel Prize in Economics" so offending and incorrect (or a "lye" and a hoax as
user:Liftarn sometimes puts it), why don't you ask the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm to stop sponsoring the prize, which is the case as the foundation indeed issues the diploma, organizes the Nobel lectures, awards the medal, and hands over the prize cheque (from the Swedish Central Bank - a bank btw which has never been called "Bank of Sweden"). Of course the prize might be called the "Sveriges Riksbank's Prize in Economic Sciences", but again, the community does not, for a number of reasons, share that opinion. What
user:Liftarn is doing is plain vandalism, as he/she on a continuous basis and rather violently pushes for the long form in violation to the consensual votes. As regards the use of long or short name, I understand that
user:Liftarn has been warned and even blocked for similar violations in the past. --

My question is specifically about what you find so wrong with the name of the prize that you feel so compelled to change it to "Nobel Prize in Economics" in the templates? As I've stated on your talk page, there is no consensus to use that name and
WP:NAME does not apply to the content of articles. There are editors who would just like to see the correct name of the prize used, especially in articles where it should be used such as
Nobel Prize,
Nobel Prize in Economics, and these templates. Also, Bank of Sweden has indeed been used as the English name for Sveriges Riksbank in the name of the prize. See the press releases for
20032004 and
2005 for a few examples. Also, what's your reason for using "Nobel Prize in Economics"?
