Limorina:, The default color isn't good at all. The colours that we should use here should be the colours of title image or card. See the photos

[3]. First contains Black, second has LightBlack colour and the third contains Gold colour. So we should use one of these colours not the default. See the
Template:Boonie Bears which uses its default colour. Thank you.

Empire AS I don't really find the default colour that bad but I guess you created the template so it's your choice. You would have also thought about it so I won't change it.

Limorina, no, work submitted on Wikipedia may be edited and redistributed by anyone. So, you may change that colours if you want. I wouldn't stop you. But I chose orange colour because it's near to the gold colour (text is difficult to read on gold, but easier on orange) and Blue colour for a connection with
