Regarding this, having comments inline with the templates example means the user has to select all of the comments one by one and delete them when they are going to use the template on an article. This inconvenience is why none of the other music templates (see for example Template:Infobox Album#Code, Template:Infobox Single#Code, Template:Infobox Song#Code and Template:Infobox musical artist#Code) use such comments. Other than that, it's redundant and confusing to have two sets of instructions, especially when they are subtly different. I also made some other whitespace changes (other than fixing the BR trick, which I assumed was an oversight) to bring this template more in line with the other templates. -- PEJL 14:28, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
[http://www.example.com/ www.example.com]
. That makes the URL shorter, while still correct. For URLs which are too long to print like this (for example "
http://www.kalan.com/english/scripts/"), I'd recommend shortening it using ellipses, like [http://www.kalan.com/english/scripts/ www.kalan.com/english/...]
or similar.text-overflow: ellipsis;
rule (which we can't rely on because of limited browser support). Your cgi-bin example could be shown as "www.example.com/..." I fail to see how a mangled URL like Foo Records.com is better than www.foorecords.com, if the latter is the actual host name.Hi again. It's an answer to your previous post, but I'm outdenting to relieve a bit the marginal pressure.
<CODE>
vs. <code>
: but there is absolutely no requirement of "consistency" for source code, such as writing all tags the same way. Wikipedia requires only consistency for what's visible to the reader, such as "either you use only endashes as prose separator, or only emdashes, but not both randomly". For the rest, it's a live and let live thing, especially if you don't have any vested interest into the lowercase tags.This request is an exercise in minutia but could "founder" be renamed "founder(s)"? Naufana : talk 02:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
If so then perhaps other entries such as Distributing label & Genre ought to be renamed Distributing label(s) & Genre(s) Naufana : talk 02:55, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
The enforced singular is currently inappropriate in many existing cases, whereas the optional plural would be inappropriate in no existing case. TheEndlessVoid ( talk) 21:24, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Why is it "Official Website" and not "Official website"? Why is website capitalized? — Status ( talk · contribs) 04:00, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
Does anyone else think that someone should add a ‘defunct” parameter so that readers can know exactly when a defunct label went defunct? It's certainly a very important piece of information on the label's history, and it should be included in the infobox. Esszet ( talk) 02:02, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
Should we add the fate of the defunct record label or not? I think it can make it swift on why the record label went defunct, instead of making the reader oversee the label and it would be irritating. If not, then I would understand professionally why. Thanks. Smarty9108 | Send a message to Smarty9108 11:53, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
There needs to be a code for both fate and successor, because it would allow readers to easily see what caused the dissolution quicker and who is the successor of the record company. The codes should obviously be optional to add. troublednbored ( talk) 22:17, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
Is there any sensible way to amend this to allow a second image? Les Disques du Crépuscule should have logos for both Crépuscule and Factory Benelux. I'd like to propose the addition of a "module" parameter (possibly more than one) to allow for embedding other infoboxes into the infobox, much like Template:Infobox musical artist. This is mainly because I would like to use it on the Monstercat article for embedding Template:Infobox YouTube into the infobox. See my testcase here. jd22292 ( Jalen D. Folf) ( talk) 03:45, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

Can someone please add the variant "fonders" to the template so this word will show up when more than one person founded the record label in question? Helper201 ( talk) 20:57, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
I’ve noticed that a lot of templates for other various brands and businesses have the ability to list the successor(s) and predecessor(s) as well as the fate on their templates. Examples include companies but I also wish record labels had these too. I would appreciate some thoughts on this and whether you think this would be a good idea or not, thanks. SlySabre ( talk) 14:30, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
The parameter |bgcolor=
has been marked as "deprecated"
for more than 15 years and even before that, it was said to not normally be used. Fifteen years on, the field still does not seem to serve any purpose in the context of Wikipedia. Since it keeps being abused for cosmetic reasons by individual users, it seems about time to remove it entirely.
