Error on this template as initially created

I've created this data template and see that there is an error on it. I don't see the cause of the error, and I've asked for help concerning it at WP:VPT#Error creating data template. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 02:23, 23 January 2014 (UTC) reply

Data, sourcing, usage

I initially put figures which were easily obtainable into this template. I referenced (unreliable) WP articles for the area figures because those articles were topical and gave figures. Unfortunately, the figures given there were not sourced. This template should contain figures sourced from cited reliable sources, and my understanding is that WP articles should generally present figures transcluded from this template where relevant. I've now looked into the initial figures a bit.

I see that the 343,353 km2 total area figure in the WP article I initially used seems to have come from this 2014 edit, which changed the figure from a previous figure of 299,764 km2, saying that the new figure was the one given by the NCSB as of 2007. The supporting cite (a PIA web page) was not changed. The link in the cite is a dead link, but I was able to find a 2005 archive and a 2009 archive of that cited PIA web page, both of which give an area figure of 299,764 km2.

Browsing around the NSCB website, I found this page, which says that the Philippines has a total area of 30,000,000 hectares (300,000 km2), in a table which gives areas of regions comprising the Philippines totaling up to 26,954,474 hectares (269,544.74 km2).

Looking at this NAMRIA web page, I see that it gives two figures for "total land area" (not "total area"), 300,000 and 299,404 km2, and that it credits Wikipedia as the source of information.

Browsing around the web for assertions about the total area and the land area of the Philippines, I see that a lot of sources giving figures cite the CIA Factbook as the source of their information. The Philippines page in the CIA Factbook currently gives figures of 300,000 km2 for total area and 298,170 km2 for land area. I've changed this template to use these figures and to cite the CIA Factbook as the supporting source.

Also, in support of the data for flag, I've cited the two supporting sources currently cited by the Flag of the Philippines article rather than citing that (unreliable) WP article. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 04:40, 24 January 2014 (UTC) reply
