This is a documentation subpage for Template:Check page on delete. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template is used in system messages. Changes to it can cause immediate changes to the Wikipedia user interface. To avoid major disruption, any changes should be tested in the template's /sandbox or /testcases subpages, or in your own user subpage. The tested changes can be added to this page in a single edit. Please discuss changes on the talk page before implementing them.

This is the {{ check page on delete}} template.

This template is normally only used by the system, it is called from MediaWiki:Confirmdeletetext. It displays a warning message when an admin tries to delete a protected page, for instance a protected article.

This template detects all three kinds of protection: edit, move and upload protection. It warns even if it is only semi-protection.

If the page is not protected at all this template produces no output.

This template is sometimes also called in file space. That is, MediaWiki:Confirmdeletetext and thus this template is also called when deleting file pages that have no locally uploaded file.
