) is a species of
rhinoceros
. It is actually more of a dark grey color than black, and is really only distinguishable from the
white rhinoceros
by the shape of its upper lip. It is classified as
critically endangered
, and one subspecies, the
western black rhinoceros
, was declared extinct by the
IUCN
in 2011.
