Several parameters have pre-set defaults (but may be overridden):

Article author (for the full set of author parameters, see {{

Article titles and identification:
|title=name of the ODNB article|doi=doi—use where available on the ODNB page|id=number—Use ONLY if a doi is not available. This is a nonstandard parameter and consists of the "article number" (often the last set of digits of a biography URL).
