West Palm Beach is a great city with alot of natural and man made history.
Can anyone add anything to the history of West Palm Beach, particularly who the mayors were?
I'm thinking of redoing the this page in the same layout of the Boca Raton, Florida one. Before I do, I need to know, how do I put in pictures?
Okay, as you have seen, I completed the new WikiPage. Feel free to add to it and correct some of my horrible mistakes that Microsoft Word didn't pick up.
About the Rice Brothers. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/accent/content/accent/epaper/2005/11/12/a1d_john_rice_1112.html
I removed the "Residents" section:
articl* There are quite a few of us WPB residents out there and, sadly, we all can't be mentioned. I'd also argue that they are not the only famous residents of the city.

We need some images for this article of the skyline and Cityplace!
The current picture of the 'skyline' isn't very accurate. It's from I-95 looking east. The proper way to get the skyline would be from Palm Beach looking east because the taller buildings are near the Intracoastal, not Clear Lake.
Exactly what type of pictures of City Place are needed? I have or can get any specific photo. 76.110.11.45 ( talk) 16:02, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
The Styx was the name of the community on Palm Beach Island housing the black workers for Flagler's hotels. Exactly what happended to it, and when, is not entirely clear. See [1], [2], [3] and [4]. -- Donald Albury 22:35, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
I had to remove a line that claimed the city's ranking as 14th most dangerous was "biased" because unincorporated areas of the city weren't included, where the crime rate is lower. Unfortunately, an "unincorporated part of the city" is not the city by definition. For example, New Orleans doesn't get to count unincorporated Metairie to lower its crime rate. To show a lower crime rate, West Palm Beach would either have to actually lower the amount of crime or incorporate those low-crime unincorporated areas. Goeverywhere 16:17, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
I think the crime table should be removed entirely. The national crime figures are wildly innacurate, according to the UCR the last time homicide rates were up at 6.8 was in 1997, and the rate for '05 was 5.6.

You already have a section on local sports facilities so could the National Croquet Centre http://www.croquetnational.com/ be added. It is due to hold the world championships next May http://www.wcfcroquet.org/Tournaments/acwc2009.html when players representing 26 countries will be competing. MidlandLinda ( talk) 22:07, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
I removed the statement, "(Source: Florida Department of Law Enforcement)", from the article. When a citation is requested, we are looking for information that will let other readers find the source and verify what it says for themselves, as detailed in Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Citing sources. -- Donald Albury 22:34, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
The whole section appears to be original research. To start with, I do not know of any definition for a "West Palm Beach urbanized area"; most of the City of West Palm Beach is part of the Miami Urbanized Area, as defined by the Census Bureau. Cities from all over the county have been added to this list, as though all of the county counted as suburbs of West Palm Beach. I think that people in Boynton, Delray and Boca would argue that they are not suburbs of West Palm Beach. But what counts here is citing reliable sources, hard as they might be to find. -- Donald Albury 21:29, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
I've just done a clean-up of most sections of the page, removing the weasel-worded and WP:OR-style hyperbole that appears to be straight from the city's tourist-brochure/publicity-guide. The page will be on watchlist to ensure that reverts and similar such edits are removed. Plutonium27 ( talk) 03:45, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

I already question the encyclopedic nature of these sorts of sections, but this one is particularly long. It's huge. Is there any agreement that it should be trimmed? Scarlettail ( talk) 15:53, 24 June 2015 (UTC)
Agreed. But where to start? Resident, West Palm Beach, July 21 2015. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.48.201.128 ( talk) 17:34, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
The Historic Districts section is large and unwieldy. Can we break it out into a new page? 174.48.201.128 ( talk) 17:35, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
The current history section looks good. But there is a great deal of additional historical details that could be included. I would love too see more in there about West Palm Beach. -Melsis Lopez — Preceding unsigned comment added by Melsis.sarai.lopez ( talk • contribs) 04:24, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

Material from Timeline of West Palm Beach, Florida was split to West Palm Beach, Florida on 25 August 2017 from this version. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted so long as the latter page exists. Please leave this template in place to link the article histories and preserve this attribution. The former page's talk page can be accessed at Talk:Timeline of West Palm Beach, Florida. |
An editor has now reverted both @ PopularOutcast: and I to reinsert two schools into this article, although the schools are not in the city. This needs to be discussed here, and a consensus found, before those schools are added again. - Donald Albury 13:53, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
I could not find the names of the city administrator, city clerk, or city attorney on the city's web site. IMO, there is no encyclopedic need to name appointed officials in most articles about municipalities, and if, in fact, the City of West Palm Beach does not list the names of such officials on its web site, then I think such officials are not significant enough to include in the article, even when their names can be found in reliable sources. Why should I leave those offices in the infobox? - Donald Albury 14:12, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
A "split section' template for Notable people was added in August 2021 but I see no discussion for it here. There is a comment posted much earlier saying that this section was "huge". I would not call the current contents huge. And the only justification for a new article would be to increase the Wikipedia article count. User-duck ( talk) 11:54, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
