Lead

  • "The 1952 Games were considered a great step for sports in Venezuela, as the previous Venezuelan delegation had only one athlete." -> who considers this? perhaps rewrite

Background

  • Link 1948 Summer Olympics
  • "Thanks to this win, he was called upon to join the Olympic team" -> who called upon him to join, since the VOC was resistant?
  • "However, his coach, Ladislao Lazar, said that he would not allow any of his athletes to compete at Helsinki if Devonish was not on the team." -> Prior to the Games, his coach, Ladislao Lazar, said that he would not allow any of his athletes to compete at Helsinki if Devonish was not on the team.

Medalists

  • 1952 Games's -> 1952 Games'

Opening ceremony

  • Looks okay

Competitors

  • On only four occasions has the country not included female athletes, in 1948 and 1956 (the Games immediately before and after this instance), and later in 1968 and 1980. -> Link the years to the relevant Venezuela at the... pages
  • Link Communist countries

Aquatics

  • All other sports except Swimming have a background of the sport
  • Link trampolining

Athletics

  • "In the 110 metres hurdles, athletes were drawn in 6 heats" -> change 6 to six
  • "In the final round, athletes had three attempts to clear several ascending mark barriers." -> change had to have
  • What do the various "also recorded as" comments mean? Is there dispute about the actual times?

Boxing

  • Looks okay

Cycling

  • Looks okay

Fencing

  • Looks okay

Shooting

  • Event titles should be non-capitalised in table and section headings (e.g. "Rapid Fire Pistol, 25 metres" -> Rapid fire pistol, 25 metres etc.)

Wrestling

  • "losing to the Canadian Bernard" -> losing to the Canadian Armand Bernard

References

  • The following is not mandatory for GA, and will not affect the passing of this nomination, however I would strongly recommend archiving each citation you have used (you can use the Wayback Machine for this). My personal opinion is that this is best practice to ensure link rot is not an issue in the future.

Overall comments

Just need to fix up some of the prose and I am happy to pass, good job! — Allied45 ( talk) 01:50, 16 April 2020 (UTC) reply

@ Allied45: I've done up the article, and have tried to get IABot to add archives, it doesn't seem to want to do that, so I'll try again soon. Other than that, it should be good. Kingsif ( talk) 02:42, 16 April 2020 (UTC) reply
@ Kingsif: Looks good overall! I think you may have missed the comments for the "Athletics" section though :) — Allied45 ( talk) 09:16, 16 April 2020 (UTC) reply
@ Allied45: Yes, I did miss those - done now. The 'also recorded as' isn't about a dispute, it's because of the vaguely inaccurate ways they were recorded, which I believe was using multiple stop clocks that didn't always match. Kingsif ( talk) 15:47, 16 April 2020 (UTC) reply
Okay this all looks good (I have made minor adjustments to the lead so it flows better). Since everything I raised is now addressed, I am happy to pass this nomination. Allied45 ( talk) 00:13, 17 April 2020 (UTC) reply
