Per WP:ENGLISH WP:COMMONNAME. "Canonical sundial" is not actually a thing, whereas "tide dial" is. Google Scholar tells the same story. The current gloss in the "Other names" section is, aside from being unsourced and full of TONE and BIAS issues, misinformed.
