Major McGuire was in the 5th Air Force not the 13th Air Force on December 25-26, 1944 for his G.O. No., Rank and Organization. Gen. Kenny commanded the 5th and 13th Air Force at the time, so maybe that's connected to this error. Sources for the citation are not the original citation (none are signed) including the Congressional Medal of Honor Society's McGuire citation (society has no connection to congress).
It appears U.S Army Air Corps is officially used instead of U.S. Army Air Forces in the World WWII, Rank and Organization citations.
McGuire was probably still a captain not a major on December 25-26; there is no exact date in "late December" for his being promoted to captain.

McGuire was using another pilot's assigned and named P-38 plane for an unknown reason on the day he crashed and died. McGuire did not use his assigned plane, Pudgy V (his wife's name). Should this be added to the article? YahwehSaves ( talk) 03:28, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
