Page move request

I would like to request that this article be moved to Thomas Osborne Davis (Young Ireland). Davis was not a politician, though he was the founding member of the group which came to be known as Young Ireland.-- Domer48 ( talk) 19:19, 31 January 2008 (UTC) reply

Citizenship

I'm deleting the Citizenship section in the infobox, Davis was not a UK citizen as UK citizenship did not exist in Davis' day, not being created until 1948, a hundred years after his death. (See History of British nationality law). The listed nationality should cover the situation as Ireland in Davis' day was part of the UK anyway.

Page move

I agree that "Irish politician" is not the most apt, but two questions: (1) Why "Thomas Osborne Davis" when he is known as "Thomas Davis"? Middle names by convention go in the intro, not the title. (2) Why not "Irish Revolutionary"? Surely what he was, and what he had in common with previous and later generations, is more relevant to the article name than the specific organisation he belonged to? On your first point I agree, on the second however Davis was not a member of Young Ireland (there never was such an organisation) he was Young Ireland according to his friends. I'd be more then happy with Thomas Davis (Young Irelander). -- Domer48 'fenian' 15:15, 6 December 2008 (UTC) reply

Death?

Anybody know why, and how, he died so young? 109.77.125.55 ( talk) 01:39, 11 March 2012 (UTC) reply

It was mentioned in the article but I have made it more prominent. Snappy ( talk) 12:12, 6 August 2012 (UTC) reply
