Marrs?

Is Texe Marrs any relation to Jim Marrs? Oops, that was me -- forgot to sign. Cactus Wren 04:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC) reply

They are brothers; both Bible-Thumping, Christ Jesus Loving Fundamentalist Christians: God Bless them! They are the only two authors are have the guts and ability to call a spade a spade instead of a garden implement. There should be more people like the Marrs brothers in the world, maybe we wouldn't be in the mess we are in today!

I have read nearly every book each of them has written. I have verified for myself, as best I could, what they wrote and honestly, I think they were being nice when they described some of the criminals that hold offices in our government. The truth is, some of them should be shot for treason! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.97.182.89 ( talk) 14:58, 2 November 2013 (UTC) reply

Let me clarify here now; NO, I would not shoot anyone! I don't even own a gun! Forgive my stupidity for saying such a thing inasmuch one can get arrested for even thinking such a thing anymore. Therefore, I recant that sentence and change it to; "The truth is, some of them should be imprisoned for treason." There, that's better, isn't it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.97.182.89 ( talk) 15:08, 2 November 2013 (UTC) reply
Are you sure Texe and Jim are brothers? I have found no mention of this any where on the web. And I have listened to virtually every episode of Texe's 'Prophesy in News' and Texe, in ten years has never once mentioned Jim in his Show's. Texe is sometimes listed as 'no known relative of Jim Marrs' . Jim Marrs was no 'Bible thumping believer in Jesus' he stated many times he thought religion was bunkum used to control the 'sheeple' . Texe on the other hand is a rock solid Bible based believer, even if Gays, Jewish folks, folks like The Hon Hilary Clinton etc may wonder at where Texe get's his brand of religion from. Johnwrd ( talk) 19:25, 15 September 2018 (UTC) reply
I, also have attempted, and failed, to find anything indicating a family relationship between Texe and Jim Marrs. They seem to have been close enough in age to have been brothers, they had parallel careers in Texas, though at different institutions in different cities. I heard Jim interviewed on the radio, and must echo Johnwrd, above.
Interestingly, a young lady named Christina Marrs, also based in Austin, has made quite a career as a vocalist, formerly with a band called the ‘ Asylum Street Spankers’. Her music tends to reflect political views, and I feel sure that she is at least aware of both Texe & Jim. I have yet to learn anything of her parentage. She may possibly be the link, a niece, daughter or grand-daughter. wpOR, yes, that would be OR, but if we could get some indication of the facts, maybe we could then find a supporting RS. Ragity ( talk) 22:44, 22 March 2020 (UTC) reply
It occurred to me to check their obits, since Texe passed last November. He was predeceased by two brothers, one of whom was Troy Marrs, Jr. His father was Troy Marrs, Sr., and mother was Josephine. [obit: Austin American-Statesman, 26Nov2019]
Jim’s full name was Jas Farrell Marrs, Jr., and his parents were JFM Sr. & Pauline Draper Marrs.
More detailed information is available at Find a Grave: Jim is #182013778, Texe #205005067.
So, no, not brothers. Possibly cousins. But then we’re all cousins, no? Ragity ( talk) 11:07, 23 March 2020 (UTC) reply

Third party sourcing

The third party sourcing for this article appears to consist of a couple of, not particularly prominent, Christian apologetics ministries/websites (which can usually be counted upon to dispute opposing views, no matter how obscure) and a blog (which therefore fails WP:BLP). Conspiracy Theorist label.

I would like to label Marrs a conspiracy theorist in the lead, but want to avoid being "tendentious" in my editing. Right now the lead just describes him as an opponent of Freemasonry, the Roman Catholic Church, and Judaism. He also believes in conspiracy theories, and that's at least as important a part of what he does. This article is already in the category conspiracy theorists on wikipedia. May I put material in the lead about Marrs being a conspiracy theorist? -- PaulBustion88 ( talk) 06:57, 15 April 2015 (UTC) reply

The standard at Wikipedia is that you can label him anything you like, but only if you can support the allegation with reliable secondary or tertiary sources. Ragity ( talk) 22:59, 22 March 2020 (UTC) reply
The label 'conspiracy theorist' is tendentious. But so are terms like 'antisemitic' etc. If a group can get it right that people are resenting a label, then that is rather telling as well. If believing in 'conspiracy theories' is a criteria for calling someone a conspiracy-theorist, then this should be applied to any conspiracy theory not just selective ones. And since virtually anyone believes in some conspiracy theories, you can apply that label to anyone. And that means that it isn't really distinctive. 105.4.1.196 ( talk) 19:24, 5 August 2023 (UTC) reply

KJVO?

In this debate about the King James Bible, a person by the name of Tex Mar[r]s calls in between about 53:26 and 59:36 and defends the King James Bible in preference to all modern versions. Is it the Tex Marrs mentioned in the article, and if so, is it safe to say he is a King-James Onlyist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.6.7.34 ( talk) 03:53, 6 February 2018 (UTC) reply

Books <> videos

I have separated books from videos. Someone may want to group them together under one title, but it seemed awkward. I don’t object, if someone wants to do that, but the vids should still be separated. Also, Tyndale is an important publisher of Christian lit, named after an historic theologian, and there is no “s” in his name, nor in that of his namesake publisher.
