Copyright cleanup

This version of 01:55, 21 September 2020 with the edit summary clearing out copyright violations - {{inuse}} is the first version that is "copyright-clean". Previous versions as well as a previous draft at Draft:Terry Williams (Sociologist) ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs) were based largely on the web site http://cosmopolitan-life.com/. Note: You may need to click "about" in the upper-right corner to see the "About" section, which the opening paragraph of this page was copied from before it was re-written.

The list of books and list of faculty positions are "basic facts."

I've flagged Draft:Terry Williams (Sociologist) for speedy deletion as a copyright violation. davidwr/( talk)/( contribs) 02:27, 21 September 2020 (UTC) reply

I have used Revision Deletion to remove the versions with copyrighted content. DES (talk) DESiegel Contribs 14:54, 21 September 2020 (UTC) reply

Not seeing "notability" here

I'm not seeing "significant coverage" of this person from independent, reliable sources. See WP:Your first article for links to notability guidelines.

Founding Harlem Writers Crew MIGHT meet WP:NACADEMIC but only if HWC is itself a notable "school" or "group" within the field. Founding a non-"wiki-notable" project does not meet WP:NACADEMIC.

His books MIGHT qualify him under WP:NAUTHOR, but that's not common for "academic" authors who aren't well-known outside their field.

If there is important information missing that would definitively show that this person meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines, like him holding a "named chair" or "distinguished professorship," please add it, along with a citation.

He might also qualify under WP:NBIO or WP:GNG, but I'm not seeing the evidence with what is there now.

If this were to go to WP:Articles for deletion to day, at best the result would be "Draftify."

@ Palmsandbeaches: If you do not plan on addressing these issues in the next few days, please consider moving this back to Draft:Terry Williams (sociologist) until they are resolved. If you do move it, change "[[Category:...]]" to "[[:Category:...]]" to de-activate the categories while it is a draft. After moving, please use Template:db-r2 on the left-over redirect at Terry Williams (sociologist) to have it removed.

If it is still in its current state in a few days and NOT moved back to "draft"-space, expect that it will be nominated for deletion. davidwr/( talk)/( contribs) 17:09, 7 December 2020 (UTC) reply

Hey, davidwr Good evening and I hope you are well in these challenging times. While he has taught at Princeton, I don't recall any sources that would call it 'distinguished'. In fact, I didn't find any sources regarding teaching at Yale and decided to remove it altogether since the whole Faculty section seemed an overstretch and borderline promotional.
I was inclined to move it to main space mostly because of the books he has published and because I found multiple book reviews in notable publications (I have listed two reviews but I remember there were more). His work is also present at Worldcat which encouraged me to take this step. I was seeing it more under WP:NAUTHOR but I do see your point.
The current state of sources: it is either about him teaching at a university or about his books - so I guess that's all the improvisation I would be able to do; but from your comments, I gather that won't be enough. Do you think I should still give it a try to do more digging? Or it's a lost cause at the moment and I should just move it back to drafts? Your take would be invaluable. Thanks!

If you have links to in-depth book reviews and in-depth discussions about him as person that aren't currently being used, post them in a new section on this talk page, call it "additional sources" or something like that. This way I and other editors can look through them. If the sources are paywalled or not online, please summarize what they say and say WHY you think they contribute to showing that this person has received significant coverage. Also, if it's not immediately obvious, say why you think the source is reliable and why it is WP:independent. davidwr/( talk)/( contribs) 17:37, 7 December 2020 (UTC) reply

Good morning davidwr! This feedback is definitely helpful. Thanks for your time on this. I will work on this in this week.
