A Tea meeting is not just a Caribbean tradition

There are numerous references in historic Australian newspapers of "Tea-meetings" being held after church openings or other formal events. [1] From what I can understand, these meetings are a social gathering of the members of a church or other organization, especially a gathering organized for fund-raising purposes.
