The 75 mph speed of the Nighthawk vs. the 60 mph speed of the Zeppelin doesn't seem to imply that the former was outclassed. More context is needed here.--

Not sure what's going on here, as hardly any German airships built ever reached a speed of 70mph.[1] I'll investigate further.

I can only imagine the underpowering is referring to aircraft's slow rate of climb (10,000 feet in an hour) rather than the speed of 70mph.

That's what I was thinking as well, but unless you have a source that explicitly says as much... Barring that I'd suggest rephrasing so that the speed differential doesn't seem to be the cause of it's suckitude.--
